International Congress Biennial

Dear colleagues!

We are pleased to welcome you to the 16th International Biennial Congress of the International Academy of Periodontology (IAP) between April 27 and 29, 2017. We are honored to have the privilege to organize this outstanding scientific event, which will take place in Brasov in the heart of Romania.

The International Academy of Periodontology (IAP) was founded in 1985 to globally promote science and information from the field of Periodontology by creating and consolidating international cooperations with national and international periodontal societies and research groups. The mission of the IAP is to spread the research and clinical practice of periodontology across the globe and among other dental and medical fields. Through this mission, the IAP creates and coordinates outstanding presentations during its biannual scientific meetings, bringing the experts together with the local and regional leaders and trainees of periodontology. IAP promotes international exchanges between nations in order to contribute to the advancement of periodontal health globally. The academy disseminates by means of publications and educational meetings theories and new scientific and clinical developments in periodontology.

Every two years, the IAP organizes an international congress. For the first time in 2017, this congress will be held in Romania, offering a program with worldwide renowned speakers in the field of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. State of the art lectures focusing on clinically relevant aspects related to the etiology, diagnosis, biology, histology, oral microbiology and therapy will provide the participants with predictable, evidence based treatment concepts for the management of periodontal and peri-implant conditions.

The congress also includes a pre-congress symposium focusing on important clinical aspects in ortho-perio cases and two pre-congress workshops including theoretical aspects and practical exercises on innovative surgical techniques in the fields of regenerative and plastic-aesthetic periodontal surgery.

All participants will have the opportunity to present their research in the field of periodontology/implantology in form of posters. Undergraduate and post-graduate students are encouraged to participate to a poster competition.

The Congress will be held in Brasov, in Transylvania, at the center of Romania surrounded by the Southern Carpathians. This world famous UNESCO World Heritage site, with German and Austro-Hungarian influences, offers a cozy atmosphere and attractive historical sight-seeing points.
