I have the special pleasure and honor to invite you to the 18th Congress of the Romanian Society of Cardiovascular Surgery.<\/p>\n

In recent years, we have witnessed major changes in the management of cardiac patients, a real paradigm shift in cardiac surgery. The recent appearance of valve replacement techniques through minimally and micro invasive procedures has generated an increasingly strong current for the management of complex heart diseases with the help of minimally invasive techniques.<\/p>\n

The need for the evolution of the traditional heart surgeon to keep up with this paradigm shift is becoming more and more evident. The cardiac surgeons of the past must become the cardiac surgeons of the future.<\/p>\n

The two specialties, interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery, increasingly overlap their field of action. The clinical cardiologist, the interventional cardiologist and the cardiac surgeon must form a single team, with the heart patient at the center of their attention.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

It is also the reason why I want to have as many fellow cardiologists as possible at this congress, as speakers or simple participants, and together we try to answer the questions that confront us.<\/p>\n

Are we at a crossroads of cardiology and cardiac surgery?<\/p>\n

How does the new generation of cardiologists and surgeons adapt to these changes?<\/p>\n

Is the multidisciplinary approach to the cardiac patient necessary to increase the efficiency of our treatments?<\/p>\n

I am convinced that all these changes represent only a new chapter in the history of a field that is still in its adolescence.<\/p>\n

I invite you to think together about the future of this specialty, how we can become better and better, and how to implement new technological innovations for the benefit of heart patients.<\/p>\n

The vascular surgery and cardiology sessions that will take place in parallel will complete the broad thematic palette, with particularly interesting and exciting current topics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
